Manchester City’s is ready to spend £80m on two defenders

In coming Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has told the hierarchy at the Etihad that his first priority is to bolster the clubs aging defence by signing Everton’s John Stones and Athletic Bilbao’s Aymeric Laporte.

French international Laporte has a £40 million buyout clause with the Basque club, while Everton turned down a £37 million offer from Chelsea for England defender Stone last summer.

And now according to the Sun the money men at the Etihad are prepared to give Guardiola in order for him to start his rebuilding at the club.

With team captain Vincent Kompany prone to injuries, while at the same time edging closer to his sell by date and summer signing from Valencia, Nicolas Otamendi not living up to expectations, the Catalan genius sees Stones and Laporte as a partnership that could develop to be the best in the Premier League, but given their age of just 21-years-old could provide City with a solid pillar at the back for the next 12 years if not longer.

Manchester City wants their new manager to hit the ground running when he arrives, and as such are scouring the world for five top signings to help make City into an all-conquering side for the former Barcelona trainer.
