MAN City, Porto, Mangala, Pellegrini,

According to this morning’s L’Equipe Manchester City are ready to sign Porto’s French international defender Eliaquim Mangala, and are willing to meet his buyout clause of 45€ million.

City manager Manuel Pellegrini has concerns over the fitness of City Captain and Belgium international Vincent Kompany and is looking at Mangala to reinforce his defence after blaming it for the loss to Cardiff City.

Mangala has also been linked with a move to Chelsea  with Portuguese newspaper Record reporting as little as two months ago that the Porto player could have been one of Jose Mourinho’s first signings but he was put off by the price the club was asking for the 22-year-old.

It remains to be seen if Moneybags City will pay Porto’s asking price but with just a few days left in the window remaining Pellegrini knows he needs some other defensive options.
