According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester City is ramping up their efforts to sign Wolfsburg assist King Kevin De Bruyne.

Director of football Txiki Begiristain has delayed his flight to join Manchester City on their pre-season tour of Australia in order to continue negotiations with the Bundesliga club over the signing of Belgium international De Bruyne.

The Northwest newspaper claims that City has set a spending limit of £40 million for the 24-year-old former Chelsea player, which falls some £20 million short of the price Wolfsburg is expecting to receive from him, and seeing how Liverpool stuck to their guns over Raheem Sterling, the Germans are likely to do the same knowing that if they do not sell he can help them in next seasons Champions League campaign.
