As manager in waiting, Pep Guardiola starts putting his plans for Manchester City in motion it would appear that according to the Daily Mirror, he has instructed the bosses at the Etihad to go after Real Madrid playmaker Isco.

Current Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini tried to sign the former Malaga midfielder when he first arrived in Manchester, but lost out to the allure that Real Madrid holds to many a Spanish youngster.

Things however have not gone as well as expected for the 23-year-old, with manager Zinedine Zidane said to be furious over the players lack of application and his lackadaisical attitude since taking over this season from Rafa Benitez.

Currently residing in the French legends dog house, both Isco and his teammate Colombian international James Rodriguez will be will be offered up to the highest bidder by club president Florentino Perez this summer.

While both players will have no shortage of suitors, City know they will be up against Italian champions Juventus for the boy from Benalmádena, but will hope to sway the Spaniard to sign for them by giving him the chance not only to work with Guardiola, but also a higher salary than Juventus would be able to pay.
