Maicon is set to be reunited with Roberto Mancini at Manchester City in a £3m deal – with Nigel de Jong heading in the opposite direction to Milan.

MANCHESTER CITY LATEST TRANSFER NEWS: MAICON, NIGEL DE JONG, SCOTT SINCLAIR

City’s deal maker Brian Marwood pulled out of the Blues’ delegation at yesterday’s Champions League draw in Monaco to take charge of their transfer negotiations.

City feared Maicon would cost too much when they were offered him by Inter Milan, but negotiations moved quickly yesterday and the Brazil star is due in the UK today to complete his transfer.

It is believed Maicon, 31, will sign a two-year deal worth around £90,000-a-week and Mancini is a big fan of the South American defender, who can play right-back or wing-back.

Nigel De Jong’s three-and-a-half year City career is over and he has jetted to Italy to sign for AC Milan for £3.5million.

The Dutch midfielder’s days at the Etihad have been numbered since the club refused to meet his wage demands for a new deal and Mancini believes he can afford to lose him.

City will secure the signing of Swansea winger Scott Sinclair today after agreeing a deal with the Welsh side that could reach £8million including add-ons.

The player’s move seemed to have stalled with Swansea wanting more than the £6.2m originally offered by the Premier League champions but with only a year left on Sinclair’s contract at the Liberty Stadium, chairman Huw Jenkins has agreed to let the player go, and Sinclair arrived at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hospital for his medical on Thursday afternoon.

Sinclair has agreed personal terms for his move.
