Manchester City’s new manager Chilean Manuel Pellegrini has sent out a warning shot across the bows of the other Premiership clubs when he came out yesterday hailing his City squad as the best team in the Premiership.

Before the arrival of the former Malaga manager City already had a squad of hugely talented players on their books that had been put together by former manager Roberto Mancini.

In an effort to put his own mark on the club Pellegrini has now brought in Fernandinho, Jesus Navas, Alvaro Negredo and Stevan Jovetic for a combined cost of £90 million.

So far this summer Manchester United have not spent very much money, and neither have Chelsea on improving their squads while Arsene Wenger at Chelsea is yet to spend any of the money that was given to him.

Pellegrini is quietly confident that he has the team that will win the Premiership title.

“I think we have the best squad in England,” he said.

“We bought four important players, we already had a very good team and with these four players I think we improved a lot.

“We hope that from the first match against Newcastle at home we will start winning, and we will try to bring another trophy here.”

City’s player of the year Argentinian Pablo Zabaleta shares his manager opinion saying:

“I can guarantee to everyone that we have been working really hard in pre-season and we are very hungry for more trophies, and we aim to win something this season.

“The atmosphere in the dressing room is great. We wish the new manager and all his staff the very best of luck for the future.”
