Manchester United has made an improved bid of £34 million for Southampton’s Luke Shaw according to the Daily Mirror.

This increased offer means that the Southampton left-back would take over the crown of being the world’s most expensive teenager in the world of football.

The 18-year-old Shaw is all set to play for England tonight against Costa Rica in Belo Horizonte and will become the second youngest England player to play in a World Cup since Michael Owen.

United’s initial offer of £27 million was rejected by Southampton, and so far the club is refusing to comment on the fresh bid for their star defender.

Incoming Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has instructed executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to complete a deal done as soon as the England team arrives home from Brazil after what for the Three Lions will go down as a disappointing tournament having lost to Italy and Uruguay.

Shaw will tonight line up alongside United players Rooney, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones in what will be an attempt to at least salvage a little pride before boarding the plane to Heathrow.
