Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole says which top striker he would go after if he was Louis van Gaal.

During his time at Old Trafford Cole scored over 100 goals and thinks that Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema would be the perfect player to partner Wayne Rooney in the Red Devils attack.

“I like him (Benzema),” said Cole. “He’s a very good player and played at the highest level for numerous amount of years.

“He’s done it at international level and (you) look at that and say that could definitely work and him and Rooney.”

Meanwhile despite all the speculation that Rafa Benitez will use Cristiano Ronaldo as a centre-forward and put Gareth Bale on the wing there by making Benzema redundant is still only talk, and should it in fact happen we think that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger may have a say in where the 27-year-old French international ends up.

Should Real Madrid decide to sell, they would be looking to get around £35 million for the skilful striker.
