The temperature is heating up at Goodison Park with Manchester United now the latest club to enter the race for Everton defender John Stones.

So far though Chelsea is the only club to have bid on the 21-year-old centre back despite interest from Manchester City, and now Manchester United following their unsuccessful attempt to sign Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos and their on-going attempts to sign Valencia’s Nicolas Otamendi, who if United does not agree to pay 50€ million for will probably spend next season at the Mestalla.

With the option of finding a foreign centre-back dwindling the Guardian claims that United is now looking at the young England international as a n option, and while we here at Soccer Transfers think that Stones is certainly a player for the future, we do not see how he can possibly fit into manager Louis van Gaal’s current plans for the club, which is two win the Premiership either this season or next.

So in our opinion forget about Stones for United, as we think the Dutchman will find an experienced player that he can put in the team right now, and not down the road.
