Following their loss to Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon City are after the Dutch ace Ricky van Wolfswinkel who helped knock them out of the Europa League.
City boss Roberto Mancini has been hugely impressed with the young player after his two performances against Man City for Sporting.
Van Wolfwinkel has a buyout clause in his contract reported to be £20 million which big spending City will be prepared to pay.
Both Chelsea and Liverpool have also been linked to the 23-year-old striker, but according to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf City are the front runners in the chase to sign the prolific scorer.
