Big money club Manchester City are keen to sign Arsenal’s prolific goal scorer Robin Van Persie.
While in Portugal ahead of tonight’s Europa class with Sporting Lisbon, City manager Roberto Mancini was expressing his interest in Arsenals world class striker Robin Van Persie.
Mancini Knows that with just over a year left on his contract City will have to pay a huge some to get the Gunners to sell their most prized asset.
When asked about City’s interest in the 28-year-old striker Mancini said: “I think all the good teams are interested in him. At this moment Van Persie is one of the best strikers in Europe with Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Aguero and Mario Balotelli.
“If there is a good player who wants to leave a club, then we are interested.
“I think he is a fantastic striker but I think he will remain with Arsenal.” He later said: “If he leaves I don’t think he will be cheap because he has one year left on his contract.
“If, for example, you wanted to buy Napoli’s Edinson Cavani he would be maybe £30million.
“I think Van Persie will sign a new contract. He is Arsenal’s best player and it is difficult for them to give him to another club.”
