The news that French international centre-back Mamadou Sakho is looking to leave Liverpool will come as a shock to most Reds supporters who given the chance would select the 25-year-old defender over manager Brendan Rodgers current first choice so far this season Dejan Lovren.

Now according to French sports newspaper L’Equipe, Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen are set to make a £7 million offer for the defender, but is sure to be knocked back by Liverpool after the Reds paid PSG £18 million for him in 2013.

Italian Serie A side Roma has also approached Liverpool over a loan deal for the French youngster who hopes to be selected for Didier Deschamps French national team for next summer’s European Championships.

With two weeks to go before the transfer window closes, Liverpool fans will hope that Sakho is still at the club come September and Rodgers finds a way to give him the playing time he is looking for.
