Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal will not be taking Robin van Persie and David De Gea with him on their two-and-a-half week pre-season tour of North America on Monday.

The Dutchman hopes that deals to sell both players will be completed over the weekend with van Persie close to joining Turkish club Fenerbahce, but with late interest from Atletico Madrid and Valencia coming in all bets are off that a deal can be completed by Monday.

As for De Gea, United is hoping that Real Madrid manage to complete the transfer of Iker Casillas to Portuguese side Porto, and then make what United would consider a reasonable offer for De Gea, with the Red Devils hoping to get £35 million, but with just one year left on the Spanish international contract, United may have to lower their price a little in order to find a solution that is acceptable to both parties.
