Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is reportedly optimistic that the Red Devils can complete the signing of Paris Saint-Germain right-back Gregory van der Wiel.

The 27-year-old Holland international has only one-year left on his contract with the French champions, yet Manchester United is struggling to agree a fee with the Parisians for their Dutch defender.

According to L’Equipe PSG are asking United to pay £7.1 million, which United is not prepared to pay and will now hold out until PSG lower their price knowing that Laurent Blanc has no place for van der Wiel in his team.
