Manchester United has beaten Chelsea to the punch by signing Southampton’s 18-year-old England international left-back Luke Shaw according to the Daily Express.

The teenager spent last night in a Manchester hotel after having passed a medical and is now expected to put pen to paper in what will be a five-year contract worth £33 million.

Shaw will now become new manager Louis van Gaal’s second summer signing after Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera bought his own contract with La Liga side Athletic Bilbao in order to facilitate a move to Old Trafford.

So far the Dutchman has spent £60 million but is believed to have much more cash at his disposal as he aims to stamp his mark on United.
