Louis Van Gaal: Victor Valdes has NO FUTURE at Manchester United

Former Barcelona goalkeeper and current Manchester United No.2 has no future at Manchester United according to manager Louis van Gaal, who revealed that the 32-year-old Spanish shot-stopper was being sold due to his poor attitude.

Speculation around Valdes started to mount after he was omitted for the squad that is touring North America, and now van Gaal has revealed why he was left home.

“He is not selected because he does not follow our philosophy,” said Van Gaal.

“There is no place for one player [who does not do that].

“The philosophy is how you play football and how you maintain your match rhythm.

“For example, he refused last season to play in the second team. That’s also one aspect of our philosophy but there are a lot of other aspects of how you have to play in our philosophy in Manchester United.

“When you are not willing to follow the principles of the philosophy, then there is only one way – and that is out.”

Asked if he was selling the Spaniard, Van Gaal replied: “Yes. For us it is a big disappointment because we thought he would follow our philosophy.

“It’s a pity because we have given him the opportunity to rehabilitate and also gave a contract to him of course.

“Then he is fit to play. But when you are not playing in the first selection, then then you must play in the second selection. Every player has to do that and he refused to do that.”
