Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal gives very little away when it comes to club transfers, but following the 1-0 win over Club America last night in Seattle, the Dutchman was vague when asked if he was worried by the lack of strikers he had at his disposal.
He said: “We have Rooney, he can play in strikers’ position, and all media had written he should play there so I listen and now you put this question so don’t know what you want.
“Also Chicharito and maybe Wilson and maybe there comes a surprise. It’s a process. I’m not worried about that position.”
Chicharito spent all of last season on loan at Real Madrid supposedly surplus to the Dutchman’s requirements at Old Trafford, so it seems a bit strange that all of a sudden he needs the Mexican international, who he confirmed would link up with the squad on July 25th.
Van Gaal added: “Hernandez is coming on July 25.
“He can prove himself and now Falcao and Van Persie are gone so his chances are better now.”
