Manchester United manager, Louis Van Gaal is presently hoping the team’s Executive Vice Chairman, Ed Woodward can complete the signing of some midfielders so as to have good options available at his disposal.

Manchester United transfers have been sluggish with most of their rival clubs already completed transfer activities.

Louis Van Gaal himself asked for time to assess the present squad at his disposal and the Dutch tactician now knows what to do and where to strengthen in the team.

Manchester United trip to the Stadium of Light ended in a 1-1 draw with the Reds still looking for their first competitive win of the season.

Juan Mata’s 16th minute tap in from Antonio Valencia’s cross was cancelled out by Jack Rodwell.

The new Sunderland summer signing scored on his home debut from Larsson’s corner kick.

Although the match ended in a draw, Manchester United fans had their heart in their mouth with the home side creating better clear cut chances.

Manchester United lack of creativity in the final third is becoming a thing of concern which saw the manager make a surprise substitution.

Adnan Januzaj came on for Darren Fletcher and played as the holding midfielder who highlights the lack of depth and quality in Manchester United central midfield role.

However, the manager came out to explain his decision and pointed out he is not out to convert Adnan Januzaj to a central midfielder but had to make the decision due to the availability of players at his disposal.

The 63rd minute substitution came as a surprise to many but the manager praised Adnan Januzaj for taking up the role and doing his best.

Although the substitution didn’t give Manchester United a desired winning goal, it showed the versatility of the 19 year old attacking midfielder who broke into the first team last year under David Moyes.

The manager complained about having players out injured and gave that as a major reason for his tactical move.

Adnan Januzaj was thought to have the ability to provide the creativity from the midfield compared to Shinji Kagawa who doesn’t seem comfortable playing from the hole.

Adnan Januzaj however played as a central midfielder in Manchester United youth team while growing through the ranks and that was an added advantage compared to players like Shinji Kagawa.

Adnan Januzaj may have done his best playing in an odd position but Manchester United will need to make smart moves in the transfer market latest by 1st of September if they are to improve the quality in the team.

The team is lacking in quality midfield depth and will hope to bring in more players both in the midfield and defence in their bid to make the top four.
