Liverpool have two more key player to add to their list of injuries with manager Brendan Rodgers confirming that he will be traveling to Turkey without Jordan Henderson and Philippe Coutinho.

The Reds take on Turkish League leaders Besiktas tonight in Istanbul’s Ataturk Stadium, the very place they staged an epic come from behind win in the 2005 European Cup final against AC Milan.

With Rodgers already without Captain Steven Gerrard, Lucas Leiva, Glen Johnson and Mamadou Sakho, the addition of Henderson and Coutinho will be a big blow in the Reds chances of holding on to a slender one goal lead they take with them from the first-leg at Anfield.

Rodgers however remains upbeat despite having so many injured players as well as Lazar Markovic suspended saying that he remains confident that they can progress to the next round.

“We’ve got a few injuries,” said the boss, whose side plays host to Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.

“We’ve probably out here without eight of our squad who have knocks, some with previous and some who picked up something at the weekend.

“We still have a squad strong enough to hopefully get the job complete but we’ve got a few knocks and niggles from the weekend.”

The venue in Turkey will bring back memories for the fans and will always be associated with Liverpool football club.

“Of course it was a great historic night for the club and everyone associated with Liverpool respects that,” added Rodgers.

“It was a little while ago and there won’t be too many of our players that were involved at that time.

“It’s a real iconic stadium for the club and a big part of that history.

“For us to go there and play with a lot of young players and a new squad against a good team, we’ll look forward to that.

“We’re looking forward to the atmosphere and we want to get the job complete.”
