Liverpool to table £20m bid for Aston Villa striker

Despite a rather turbulent week for Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers it would appear as if the Northern Irishman is still in charge of Liverpool’s team minded transfer policy and has a £20 million bid ready to put in front of Aston Villa’s American owner Randy Lerner once Sunday’s FA Cup final with Arsenal is done and dusted.

Rodgers has decided that Villa powerhouse Christian Benteke is exactly the type of player he wants playing alongside Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi next season as Liverpool hope to find their scoring boots once more as they challenge for the league title.

With the entire front line except for Sturridge looking to be heading for the exit at Anfield it will be interesting to see how Benteke and his Belgium international strike partner Divock Origi work together as Rodgers hope Sturridge will have put this seasons injuries behind him.

In other Liverpool news veteran Kolo Toure and talented youngster Andre Wisdom have both signed new contracts for the Merseyside club.
