Liverpool’s desire to sign Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is well known after doing the rounds last summer and then again during the January transfer window.

The Reds are desperate for a world-class striker, and Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers thinks the 27-year-old French international is just the man to fill the goal void left after the departure of Luis Suarez to Barcelona.

It would now appear that a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu could be on the cards for Benzema as the Spanish giants consider selling him to Liverpool for £34.5 million and Gareth Bale to Manchester United for £80 million in order to raise funds for the purchase of Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero and Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus.

Spanish journalist Manuel Esteban said while speaking to La Goleada: “Gareth Bale will not continue at Real Madrid and Benzema is also on thin ice.

“If they receive a big bid, they will not be hesitant.

“The dream is to combine Kun Aguero, Marco Reus and Cristiano Ronaldo, who would become the best front line in the world of football.”

This could be good news for Liverpool who would gladly get rid of Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini to make room for the Frenchman.
