News out of Portugal yesterday suggested that Liverpool was going to do the unthinkable and bid on a Manchester United player.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola suggested that for the first time in 51 years Liverpool is about to make a bid for a Manchester United player, and that man is Mexican international Javier Hernandez who failed to make an impact while on loan at Real Madrid last season.

The 27-year-old former Guadalajara forward seems set to leave Old Trafford after not fitting in to manager Louis van Gaal’s vision for the club, and with his contract up next summer Brendan Rodgers may be able to sign him for a reasonable price.

Here at Soccer Transfer we are big fans of Chichirito and feel he has been hard done by under van Gaal as he does not fit into the way the Dutchman wants to use wingers at the Northwest club.

Chicirito’s talent lies in the fact he finds himself in the right place at the right time and is a deadly finisher of the ball.

While at Real Madrid he was barely used due to the pool of talent trainer Carlo Ancelotti had available to him, and now we feel that after having been shunned by both clubs he has something to prove, and with his current standing being what it is Liverpool would be able to pick him up for less than £10 million.
