According to Spanish football website Fichajes – via the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool are ahead of Tottenham in the race to sign West Brom Striker Saido Berahino.

The 22-year-old England international was close to joining Tottenham in the summer with Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino eager to link him up with his fellow England teammate Harry Kane.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy was said to have offered the Midlands club £25 million for Berahino, before upping it to £27 million on deadline day.

In the end West Brom said no, leaving Berahino with egg on his face after having pushed so hard for a move away from the Hawthorns, even going so far as to say he would never play for the club again.

From what we can see after both, Berahino, Tony Pulis and club owner Jeremy Peace kissed and made up; there was still an undying tension that may be the reason why Berahino has not played for the Baggies since October.

Given the current situation and the fact Pearce was so stubborn during the summer Liverpool would probably only offer £10 million for the striker whose contract expires in 2017.
