Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre has remained in Chile after having signed Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino in an attempt to get Sevilla striker Carlos Bacca to move to Anfield.

Firmino and Bacca are both competing in this summer’s Copa America which is taking place in Chile, and has the Liverpool boss hoping he can bag another player for manager Brendan Rodgers team.

The Reds may face a challenge though after Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini confirmed the Italian Serie a side was also eager to sign the 28-year-old Colombian international.

Sabatini told Abc Sevilla: “Bacca? Yes, we are interested in him. I can’t say more, but we like him and we are interested. But he’s liked also by others.”
