Liverpool’s ambitions of becoming a club where young players can make a name for themselves looks set to continue as the Reds edge closer to signing Birmingham City striker Demarai Gray despite interest from both Tottenham and Arsenal, with the Gunners scouts already recommending Arsene Wenger to sign him.

The 18-year-old forward has long been a target of Liverpool, who is believed to have told manager Brendan Rodgers that he can match any offer made by another club for the youngster.

Championship side Bournemouth tried unsuccessfully to sign him in January but now Liverpool must compete with some of the Premierships big clubs for the England U-19’s signature.

The Birmingham born teenager has scored six goals in all competitions this season and is nearly certain to be at a new club come the end of summer.
