TalkSport is claiming that Liverpool is ready to make a huge splash by signing Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Marco Reus as a direct replacement for Raheem Sterling.

Liverpool is expected to earn £50 million from the sale of the 20-year-old England international Raheem Sterling to Manchester City, and despite £29 million having already been spent on Hoffenheim’s Brazilian international Roberto Firmino, the Reds are prepared to keep on spending so as not to fall behind the likes of Chelsea and the two Manchester teams.

TalkSport claims that Rodgers wants to make a statement to the fans by bringing the 26-year-old German international to Anfield, and despite him only just signing a new deal at the Signal Iduna Park, feels that offering a larger salary than he is on in Germany could tempt him to jump ship.
