It would now appear that Liverpool’s desire to add Stoke striker Bojan Krkic to the Reds attack is over after the Spaniard suffered a serious knee injury during Monday night’s FA Cup fourth-round win at Rochdale.

The 24-year-old has been sensational for Mark Hughes team since his arrival from Barcelona last summer and will be sorely missed after being diagnosed with cruciate knee ligament damage that will require surgery and keep him out for the rest of the season.

Speaking to the clubs official website Hughes said: “It’s bitterly disappointing for the club but even more so for Bojan himself as he was making such a big impact on the Premier League and clearly enjoying his football. We wish him a speedy recovery.”
