Reports coming out of Germany this morning are saying that Schalke’s central defender 21-year-old Kyriakos Papadopoulos is close to singing for Liverpool.
When speaking to the German newspaper Bild , Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt said: “There are a lot of clubs to take into account.
“Specifically, there is nothing that has arrived, as far as I know.
“We’re going to speak to each other when it takes concrete form.
“There is currently nothing concrete, and besides, he is a mainstay for Schalke.”
Despite the fiery rhetoric the German side know that they will lose Papadopoulos, with the player himself keen on a move to Liverpool, with the only sticking point now being his price.
Schalke value you him at £13 million which Rodgers thinks is a little high. Expect a deal to be done that will see both Martin Skrtel leave to probably Napoli and Papadopoulos arrive at Liverpool before the transfer window closes on September 2nds.
