After having seen the deal to sign QPR’s Loic Remy fall through Liverpool now finds themselves running out of time to find a player to bring in who will help fill the void left by the departure of Luis Suarez to Barcelona.

One player they have not given up hope of signing is Paris Saint Germain’s Ezequiel Lavezzi despite the Argentinian being linked to a move back to Italy where he formally played for Napoli.

Liverpool however have not been put off by the rumours linking the 29-year-old with Juventus, and are prepared to pay £18.5 million to see the Argentinian international move to Merseyside.

The Daily Express is today reporting that the deal is in jeopardy as Liverpool are still waiting to receive a large portion of the £75 million they earned from the Suarez sale, and that once that money is secured they will begin negotiations.

PSG for their part are eager to sell Lavezzi so that they can bring in his Argentinian international teammate Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid.

The question now for Liverpool is will either AC Milan or Juventus beat the Reds to the punch.
