Liverpool, Manchester City

Liverpool is preparing to offer England midfielder James Milner an escape route from his Manchester City misery by offering him more playing time at Anfield.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has reportedly today made Loic Remy his 5th summer signing and is not done yet as he builds a squad capable of competing in next seasons Champions League.

Manchester City meanwhile are ready to offer Milner a new four-year deal, but the 28-year-old is fed up of being used as a bit player after having made only 11 Premier League appearances last season.

Despite Arsenal, Everton and his former club Aston Villa showing interest in signing him it is Liverpool who are the hot favourites to snatch him from the Etihad.

The next player set to join Liverpool looks like Southampton defender Dejan Lovren for £20 million once the Saints new manager Ronald Koeman can find a suitable replacement.

Liverpool is still in the market for a number two goalkeeper and now that talks with Swansea City keeper Michel Vorm have collapsed Rodgers has turned his attention to Fiorentina keeper Neto, who he thinks would provide stiff competition for Simon Mignolet.
