Liverpool has begun talks with Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels over a possible move to Anfield according to reports.

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp knows Hummels well from his time in charge of the North Rhine Westphalia club, and is certain that he would prove to be an asset for the Reds if he can convince the German international to be a part of the team he wants to build on Merseyside.

Itasportpress is claiming that negotiations have already begun between Liverpool and Dortmund over a possible January move for the 26-year-old, which will also interest Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal after he failed to sign Hummels during the summer transfer window.
