With the competition of the signing of Christian Benteke from Aston Villa for £32.5 million it is being assumed that the big Belgium could be Liverpool’s last signing of the summer, yet we here at Soccer Transfers believe he needs to sign just one more player in order to complete what we think will have been a very successful summer.

The player in question is Paris Saint-Germain defender Lucas Digne, who according to the Daily Mail has told PSG trainer Laurent Blanc that he would like to leave the club in search of first-team football to ensure his place in Didier Deschamp’s Euro 2016 squad.

The ironic thing regarding a move to Anfield however is that Dinge would have to compete with Alberto Moreno, who the Reds signed from Sevilla last season for £12 million.

“First, it is he who very clearly asked to leave’, Blanc told L’Equipe . “For now, he is with us, he is very professional, he trains very well and has prepared excellently. He has shown the results in friendlies.

“This is firstly a very good thing for him and possibly for us, should he stay with us this season.”

From what we have seen of Digne, he is a player driven to succeed and would certainly put pressure on Moreno for the start each week, but now here we contradict ourselves by saying no matter how much we like the 22-year-old Frenchman, perhaps Rodgers should be looking for a more accomplished left -back, somebody in the mould of Ashley Cole, as it is defensively where Liverpool needs to be stronger in the left-back position.

As a side note, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers used new signing Joe Gomez as a left-back in the friendly against Adelaide last week, and the youngster performed exceptionally well, so should Rodgers fail with Digne he knows at a pinch he can utilise the 18-year-old to fill in.
