Liverpool is urgently trying to put a deal in place that will see Villarreal striker Luciano Vietto move to Anfield in the summer.
The 21-year-old Argentinian is having a banner year in La Liga scoring 20 goals in 39 matches for the Castellón club, which has had Liverpool scouts closely following his progress leading to reports in Spain saying that he is now a priority summer signing for the Reds.
The source also claims that Liverpool will make Villarreal an offer soon in the hope a deal can be agreed upon before the summer transfer window opens.
Vietto is valued at about £12.2million.
