It would appear as if Liverpool is stepping up their interest in Seattle Sounders defender DeAndre Yedlin after the youngster’s recent performance for the USA national team in Brazil.

The 20-year-old defender is being talked about as one of the greatest prospects in MLS with Liverpool scouts well aware of his abilities having followed his progress since the U-20 World Cup in Turkey.

According to reports in America carried by METRO the Merseyside club would want Yedlin to join them on a trial basis over the summer, and should he live up to his reputation Liverpool would then be prepared to make him a permanent offer before the transfer window closes.

Liverpool needs to add to their defensive options and with the young American able to play both right and left back his versatility would be a bonus to the squad as manager Brendan Rodgers prepares to compete in all competitions next season.
