As we have seen with the recent injury to Martin Skrtel Liverpool does not have that many options available when they lose a centre-back to injury, and with this in mind Reds manager Jürgen Klopp has identified a young defender in FC Copenhagen‘s Daniel Amartey, a player who is comfortable not only as a centre-back but also as a defensive midfielder.

The versatile 21-year-old Ghanaian international last month confirmed that Liverpool had been in contact with him, while his agent talked up the chances of his client moving to a top European side this January, according to footafrica365.

‘Many top established European clubs are interested in him,’ said Hasan Cetinkaya.

‘There are scouts who watch him in every game. Today, Daniel is ready to move quickly to join a club of a higher level.’

The 21-year-old has a release clause of £4.7million, a relative bargain if he develops under Klopp at Anfield.
