Former Liverpool captain and still living legend Steven Gerrard has now publically had a go at former Reds teammate Raheem Sterling for the way he is handling himself at Anfield.

Sterling has made the headlines again this week, first claiming he would not go on Liverpool’s pre-season tour of Asia and Australia.

Then the 20-year-old then proceeded to call in sick for training, before letting it be known that the problem he has is not playing for Liverpool football club, but playing for manager Brendan Rodgers, saying that if there was someone else managing the club he would not be looking to leave.

The way Sterling has handled trying to force his way out of Liverpool has not impressed the LA Galaxy’s new Star, Gerrard with the Liverpool icon saying: ‘I’m not happy with all that carry-on and I don’t think there’s any need for it. They all need to be men about the situation.’

‘Raheem needs to go in and speak to the owners and to Brendan himself, tell them what he wants and go about it that way. You don’t have to throw illnesses in and refuse to go on tour.

‘There are millions and millions of Liverpool fans around the world who are itching to see Raheem Sterling in a Liverpool kit. So I don’t think it’s fair on them if he is behaving like that.’

At the moment Sterling’s transfer to Manchester City is up in the air with Liverpool asking £50 million, a price City feel is too high.
