liverpool, real madrid,

It would appear as if Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is not quite finished with his summer spending spree after now launching a £13.9 million bid for Real Madrid defensive midfielder Asier Illarramendi.

Following reports that new trainer Rafa Benitez has no plans for the 25-year-old in his team Fichajes.net say a 20€ million offer has been made by Liverpool to bring the once very promising Spaniard to Anfield where Rodgers hope had can rekindle the kind of form the former Real Sociedad player showed while representing Spain at the European U-21 championships in Israel back in the summer of 2013.

This is what the Guardian’s Tor-Kristian Karlsen had to say about the young Spaniard:

The Spanish midfielder is another Real Sociedad product, whose market value will have increased dramatically on the back of the tournament in Israel.

Illarramendi is a deep-lying midfielder who dictates the play, and is fundamental to the smooth functioning between Spain’s defensive and attacking game, he plays with authority and personality and is an excellent reader of the game.

Along with Isco, he is my outstanding candidate for Player of the Tournament.

Another great signing by Liverpool as Rodgers looks to continue with his team building.
