Liverpool, Bojan Krkic, Liverpool

Bojan Krkic was once a star of the Barcelona team being brought up in their youth system winning UEFA Golden player of the year award in 2007 beating out Toni Kroos, Eden Hazard and Yann M’Vila.

He then went on to have a great season netting 12 goals under coach Frank Rijkaard, but things turned sour when Pep Guardiola became manager with the two not getting along which saw Krkic confined to playing for Barcelona B before being sold to Roma in 2011 for 12€ million.

Things did not go so well for the youngster at Roma either with him not being able to outdo then Roma player Fabio Borini for a place in the starting XI.

After disappointment in Rome he then moved on loan to AC Milan before Barcelona used a buyback clause in his contract to bring him back to the Nou Camp, where again he was allowed to go out on loan to Ajax so that he could get more playing time which is where Liverpool comes in having sent scouts to Holland in order to watch him play.

Liverpool are looking at the now 23-year-old Krkic in the same way they did Inter Milan’s Philippe Coutinho in the respect that he was a highly regarded talent that has gone off the rails.

The current thinking appears to be that they can pick him up from Barcelona for around £5 million and turn him into a player that is allowed to show just what they can do similar to what they did with Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge by buying a fringe player from a big club and allowing him the playing time he needs.

While it might be taking a big chance on somebody who is never going to regain what he once had if you look at the video of him when he was playing well you might just want to take a £5 million gamble.
