Former Borussia Dortmund trainer Jürgen Klopp is said to be ready to cut short his self-imposed year-long sabbatical from football and take over the reins from Brendan Rodgers at Anfield according to several newspapers.

The former Bundesliga manager along with Italian Carlo Ancelotti have both been shortlisted by the Reds American owners as possible replacements for the 42-year-old, after yet another slow unconvincing start to the season from the Merseyside club.

And it would appear that despite the 3-2 win over Aston Villa yesterday afternoon the Boston based owners have run out of patience with Rodgers plan for the club.

All that is standing in the way of Klopp taking over at Anfield is him receiving a suitable offer according to the Sun.

Meanwhile a week can be a long time in football, so we will have to wait and see how this storey pans out.
