According to Sky Sport Liverpool has made an improved offer for Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana of £25 million after the Saints rejected a £20 million offer earlier in the month.

Liverpool is determined to have the England internationals signature before the start of this summer’s World Cup in Brazil which is now less than two weeks away.

The Liverpool target played for 73 minutes in yesterday’s 3-0 friendly win over Peru and is now expected to join up with fellow Southampton striker Rickie Lambert at Anfield.

Lambert is expected to be named as Liverpool’s latest accusation on Monday as he prepares to undergo a medical ahead of his £4 million move.

Southampton meanwhile is having a tumultuous week after seeing their manager Mauricio Pochettino leave to take over Tottenham as a host of big name clubs line up to try and sign their best players.
