Liverpool tried to sign Schalke winger Leroy Sane during the summer transfer window, with German newspaper Bild reporting that the Bundesliga club turned down a £11 million bid from the Premier League club.
Liverpool did however manage to bring in Christian Benteke, Danny Ings and Roberto Firmino, but still lack a genuine wide-man other than Jordan Ibe.
As things stand Liverpool is still in the market for Sane and will make another approach for Die Konigsblauen star in January, but may face still opposition from Tottenham as Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino looks to build on the young team he is putting together at White Hart Lane.
