Liverpool has been given a huge boost in their plans to sign Inter Milan midfielder Mateo Kovacic after reports suggest he is not looking forward to the arrival of Manchester City’s Yaya Toure as he feels Inter boss Roberto Mancini will prefer to start the Ivorian each week rather than him.

Liverpool is eager to push through a deal for the 20-year-old Croatian international after identifying the former Dinamo Zagreb man as having the potential to become one of the best midfielders in Europe, and have a hole in the team to fill once Captain Steven Gerrard leaves at the end of the season to play for the LA Galaxy.

Liverpool is not alone in their interest of Kovacic with both Arsenal and Chelsea also weighing up potential moves for the £18 million rated holding midfielder.

Inter Milan trainer Roberto Mancini also has summer spending plans, and is thought with the arrival of Toure to be willing to let Kovacic leave to help fund the players he wants to bring to the club.
