Despite having splashed the cash for Mamadou Sakho and Dejan Lovren Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers wants to strengthen at the back and has identified 23-year-old Real Sociedad central-defender Inigo Martinez as the ideal man to partner martin Skrtel in the Reds defence.
According to Spanish sports newspaper Marca Liverpool were in attendance for Real Sociedad last match against Barcelona and have offered the Basque club 20€ million for Martinez.
The offer was immediately turned down with David Moyes side telling Liverpool they would have to meet the defenders 30€ buyout clause if they were serious about doing business.
