Liverpool has been given a massive boost in their desire to sign Southampton right-back Nathaniel Clyne after learning that no other clubs will be competing with them for the England internationals signature.

Liverpool needs to find a right-back this summer after not offering Glen Johnson a new contract while also knowing Jon Flanagan will be out for at least nine months following a knee operation.

Clyne is just the kind of signing Liverpool needs to help with their defensive woes, and at still only 24-years-old Clyne has the Premier League experience to slot right in at Anfield and become a starter from day one.

And now with Manchester United no longer interested Liverpool will make a second bid after seeing their first offer of £10 million declined by the bosses at St Mary’s.
