After AS Roma sold Erik Lamella last summer to Tottenham the Italian side quickly went and signed 22-year-old Serbian Adem Ljajic from Fiorentina as a replacement for the Argentinian wide man.

Now three quarters of the way through the season Ljajic’s has been anything but consistent failing to play a full 90-minutes since January finding himself now mostly relegated to the bench.

Ljajic was once thought to be one of the hottest prospects available but is known for being problematic and hard to handle something that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers seems to cope with well after sorting out problems the club had with Raheem Sterling who has now developed into a player of outstanding quality.

Liverpool and Roma have done business in the past with both clubs having connections in Boston that will see them both play each other during their summer tour of the United States where they are scheduled to meet at Fenway Park on July 23rd.

Originally Rodgers had brought Nigerian international Victor Mosses in on loan with the option of a permanent move at the end of the season, but Moses has not had the impact the Reds boss had wanted so could make a move for Ljajic instead.

Roma paid Fiorentina £9 million for the young Serb last summer, but now having been marginalized in Rudi Garcia’s team Liverpool may be able to pick him up for a good price  a gamble we think given his age and talent is well worth taking.
