For a while it seemed as if Liverpool number one goal keeper had done a Houdini act after getting his place back in manager Brendan Rodgers team, yet once more during the 2-0 win over Burnley midweek the anxiety the Belgium keeper has rose to the surface once more after a couple of uncertain moments that had everyone holding their breath.

This has now according to the Daily Mail got Rodgers looking at 22-year-old Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Sportiello, who even if he does not replace Mignolet will be able to put pressure on him for the start unlike current number two Brad Jones.

Italian Serie A side Atalanta have struggled all season and are currently just three points clear of the relegation zone.

Should Liverpool go after Sportiello they could very well end up with the bargain of the summer, the trouble however will be to convince the Italian keeper to move to the Premiership rather than AC Milan who he grew up supporting.
