Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has joined Manchester United in the hope of signing former Manchester City star Jerome Boateng.

Rodgers is a known admirer of the Bayern Munich centre-back with reports in Munich suggesting that he could be looking to leave the Bundesliga champs this summer.

According to the Daily Express German newspaper Bild is claiming that the 25-year-old is on Rodgers shopping list, but also that of Manchester United manager David Moyes as well.

Getting Boateng to leave the Allianz Arena could prove to be a bridge too far after the German signed a contract with Bayern till 2018 in December while at the same time saying how happy he was in Munich.

“I am happy,” Boateng said. “FC Bayern are one of the biggest clubs in world football. I want to achieve more success here.”
