LINE-UP: Chelsea team to play Sunderland

A new Day, A New Dawn, A New Beginning is how Chelsea fans should look on this afternoons match against lowly Sunderland at Stamford Bridge now that manager Jose Mourinho has been let go.

Most fans of the West London club were firmly behind their manager all the way up until he was fired on Thursday so it will be interesting to see how they react to the players knowing that for the most part they are the reason why Mourinho is no longer leading the team.

Given the fact there was no press conference yesterday, we are going to have to go with what we already knew about the injury situation as we speculate on who assistant manager Steve Holland will pick to start the match.

Presumably striker Radamel Falcao is still out injured, and with no news as to how Eden Hazard’s hip is we will assume he is not fit to play either.

Holland certainly has nothing to lose as he knows he will be out of a job as soon as a new interim manager is appointed, with it looking very much to us like Guus Hiddink is preparing to take over and hopefully guide the Blues to a Champions League title just as Roberto Di Matteo back in 2012 when he replaced Andres Villas-Boas.

So with nothing to lose does Holland stick with Mourinho’s starting XI or throw caution to the wind and play the team he thinks should be starting at Stamford Bridge.

Our best guess is that he will go with Mourinho’s starters and hope now that the “special one” is no longer there the team will play the kind of football we know they are capable of and send the Black Cats back to Sunderland with their tails between their legs.

We are predicting a 3-0 win for Chelsea at odds of 7/1 with Bet365.
