Lazio set to open negotiations for Liverpool striker

Roman side Lazio are set to open negotiations with Liverpool for the under achieving Fabio Borini according to Rome based newspaper Il Messaggero.

The Italian daily is reporting that any move for the 24-year-old would be dependent on them achieving Champions League football next season.

Currently Lazio are third in Serie A, which is the last qualifying spot in Italy for Champions League football, but face a stern test against Napoli as the season draws to an end.

The former Palma striker had a successful season on loan at Rome before joining Liverpool in 2012, but has failed to nail down a regular starting spot in Brendan Rodgers team, and while big things were expected from the Italian international after the departure of Luis Suarez he has failed to deliver and will most likely be leaving Anfield this summer.
