Lazio plot move for Man United outcast

Lazio could offer Dimitar Berbatov an escape route as he looks to leave Manchester United this summer.

The Bulgarian has endured a mixed time at Old Trafford following his £30.75m move from Tottenham in 2008 and is likely to be allowed to go this summer.

And Corriere Dello Sport claim Lazio are preparing a bid for the 31-year-old.

The Italian newspaper report that Claudio Lotito, the president of the Rome-based club, has already met with Emil Dantchev, Berbatov’s agent, to discuss the move.

And Lazio are now preparing a summer bid as they attempt to persuade Sir Alex Ferguson to sell a player who has made just five Premier League starts so far this season.
